PLAYS

CLOUDCROFT LIGHT OPERA COMPANY

presents

Director: Arlan Ponder

Asst. Directors:  Jennifer Ridley & Becky Couvoisier

Big Bad provides actors and audiences of any age with a smart and wickedly funny play that lets the audience determine the outcome of the play!  The most notorious criminal in the fairy-tale world, Big Bad Wolf, is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by the countless quirky characters he has wronged.  Now, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — will clash (on live Court TV, no less, with Sydney Grimm as commentator!)  in a trial that will be remembered forever after.  As Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf testify, the wolf seems deserving of all that’s coming.  But, even though the disreputable Evil Stepmother couldn’t be less interested in pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense, Mr. Wolf makes a good case for himself.  Was he born a criminal, or made one?  Perhaps he does deserve compassion instead of condemnation?  What will the verdict be?  Only the jury — your audience — can decide, when the doddering old Judge invites them to determine the outcome of the trial...  and the play!  With minimal set and costume requirements and a good balance of stage time for each character, you’ll love the multiple endings that can make every performance unique!

SETTING

Time:  Once upon a time ...

Place:  A courtroom in the Enchanted Forest.

Now, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — will clash (on live Court TV, no less, with Cesar Grimm as commentator!)  in a trial that will be remembered forever after. Only the jury — your audience — can decide, when the doddering old Judge invites them to determine the outcome of the trial...  and the play!

instant part of the CLOC family. Becky works as an attorney, specializing in

civil, civil litigation.

at American Public University System. Alan is involved in the development

of New Mexico's commercial spaceport (Spaceport America), the father

of two sons who have received CLOC scholarships, the author of two regular

has been a member of CLOC since 2006.

A LITTLE M0RE ABOUT THE CAST

TYLER HALE (Grandmother Hood - July 5& July 12/Judge - July 20) is a

student at NMSU in Las Cruces and a two-time recipient of CLOC scholarships.

Tyler is a talented musician and likes Pena Coladas and getting caught

in the rain. He is a graduate of Cloudcroft High School and has been on the

CLOC stage for a number of years.

SCOTTY COURVOISIER (Cesar Grimm) is an honor student and sophomore

at Cloudcroft High School. He is also starting his third semester at NMSU-

A's dual credit program.

KALEI PONDER (Two) is a seventh grader at Cloudcroft Middle School.

A LITTLE M0RE ABOUT THE CAST

SHARA SHINABERY (Miss Muffit) is a freshman at UNM. She is a graduate

of Cloudcroft High School and this is her first time on the CLOC stage.

She really isn't as neurotic as she appears.

LARRY EVANS (The Shepard) is the pastor at the First Baptist Church in

Cloudcroft. This is his first time on stage, but probably not his last. He and his

family joined CLOC earlier this year.

HOPE EVANS (One) is a seventh grader at Cloudcroft Middle School and

this is her first time on the CLOC stage. Though she plays one of the little

pigs.  I'm afraid she really is a natural little ham.

PAT MISHKIN (prompter) is a retired ER.nurse and is currently CLOC's first

lady. She is also extremely involved in Cloudcroft Kiwanis. Pat was a driving

force behind CLOC's decision to begin working with the Dolly Parton's Irnagination

currently serves on the board of directors. He also writes murder mysteries and

melodramas, when he isn't working at the 49th Wing Public Affairs at Holloman

or serving as secretary on the Cloudcroft School Board. This is his second

time to do nothing, but direct ... and he loves it. His favorite role of all time Was

Hauncho the Hamster ... because it made kids laugh.

A LITTLE M0RE ABOUT THE CAST

JENNIFER RIDLEY (Big Bad & Asst Director) owns Giggles and Scribbles

Special Event Child Care and is also the director of the Cloudcroft Methodist

last year and immediately jumped into the mix selling t-shirts,,helping with

costumes and serving as secretary for the club.

DELAINY RIDLEY (One - July 20) is a second grader at Cloudcroft Elementary.

This is her first time on the CLOC stage in a speaking role.

GAVIN RIDLEY (Sheep) is a preschooler at the Cloudcroft Methodist Preschool.

He has had many Cameos on the CLOC stage, but this is the first

"official" appearance. When he grows up he wants to be a fireman.

MIKE SHINABERY (Wise Old Judge) is a all-round good guy who volunteers

to play the out of tune pianos at Cloudcroft school events. He works at

the New Mexico Space Museum and has a bi-weekly radio show on KRSY.

This is his first time on stage-but probably not his last after his dancing

scene.

CARSON DENNEY (Three) is a sixth grader at Cloudcroft and has been

singing since birth. This is her first time acting and she loves being a part of

CLOC.

KRISTEN SCHRADER (Red) is a senior at Texas State University San
